Mission Statement: The mission of Oakland Elementary School is to prepare students to meet life's challenges with responsibility and confidence by promoting academic excellence, cooperative social relationships, and exemplary personal conduct within a nurturing and supportive school environment.

Purpose Statement: The purpose of Oakland Elementary School is to ensure meaningful learning for all students.

Our Vision: Oakland Elementary School shall be a community that nurtures academic excellence, engaged learners, and character development for all students. This vision will guide our plans for improvement as well as be the benchmark by which we evaluate our progress.

School Hours:
8:25 a.m. - First Bell (Students enter the building)
8:30 a.m. - Tardy Bell (Classes begin)
3:30 p.m. - Classes are dismissed

Oakland Elementary was built in 1924 according to the design of architect Frederick Madison. In 1946 it became part of the Royal Oak school system. Originally there were 5 rooms.

Today we have 12 classrooms, a Media Center and Gymnasium, two Computer Labs and rooms dedicated to Art, Music and Spanish!

On site before and after school day care is available through our Latch-Key program. Check with the School Board Office for details about enrollment in this program.

There are a variety of extra-curricular activities for Oakland students including the opportunity to be involved in the daily live television broadcast, Service Squad and Safety Patrol positions, and Student Council.

In addition, our very supportive PTA provides a school newspaper, the "Roadrunner Review," outstanding cultural presentations and enrichment activities as well as social events throughout the year.
